It's one thing to bond with someone who uses the same software. But it's another to share a studio with a drummer who builds instruments out of tin cans, an analog funk apostle let loose on digital synths for the first time, a budding Brazilian bossa nova composer or a Grammy-nominated anti-pop singer from Mexico. The thirteenth edition of the Red Bull Music Academy in London saw an incredibly diverse musical output. The resulting sampler, Various Assets - Not For Sale 2010, pays testament to a once-in-a-lifetime set of musical circumstances: collaborations between people who'd never met before, but who found contrasting keys next to Tower Bridge.

The sixth in a yearly series, this double CD is not for sale, but is instead sent out to all the musicians who've ever been a part of the Academy, as well as music lovers in 32 countries. The comp is a snapshot of what goes on in the Academy studios - and also provides a unique window into diverse scenes & sounds from the places these musicians hail from.
For the two South African participants who attended the Academy in London, the young urban house ambassadors DJ MP6-60 and Jullian Gomez.

Various Assets - Not For Sale 2010 is an amazing showcase of not only their brilliant musicality but also their ability to collaborate with the best in their field. Both artists had the opportunity to work with the extraordinary Robin Hannibal whose rich, future-soul released on acclaimed labels like Ubiquity, has received wide-spread praise. "I Need Your Love" by Robin Hannibal and Jullian Gomes fuses the stylised sounds of house and techno with the classic feel and groove of soul music with ease while "Rocking All Night" by Master MP6-60 and Robin Hannibal imagines a world of low-slung synthadelic funk ruled by George Clinton and Dr. Dre.

Ultimately, this compilation is a freeform expression of music celebrated and pulled apart in sleepless studio time. Collaborations between like-minded folks, with the excitement of what tomorrow might bring.
The Red Bull Music Academy is a music symposium and festival that has traveled the world for twelve years.60 participants are selected from applicants worldwide, representing their diverse musical methodologies, cultural backgrounds and skill sets over two fortnight-long terms. At night, the participants perform alongside their peers at legendary venues of the host city; by day, they share in the wisdom of guest lecturers, who this year included chart-hopping producer Mark Ronson, producer/bandleader Gabe Roth, American minimalist pioneer Steve Reich, and brain-twisting beatmaker Flying Lotus (who himself attended the Red Bull Music Academy as a participant in 2006). In between, the participants share studios packed with analog, acoustic and digital instruments, and are joined in their investigations by a resident 'studio crew' who this year included J-Wow and Hudson Mohawke (both Academy alumni), Mala, James Pants, Marco Passarani, Tony Nwachukwu and Robin 'Quadron' Hannibal.

Various Assets - Not For Sale 2010 is available for download on http://www.redbullmusicacademy. CD copies can be picked up at record stores and clubs, music festivals and local Academy sessions worldwide. The application phase for the next edition of the Red Bull Music Academy in Tokyo will kick off in early 2011.

Morcheeba 'Even Though' Free Remix Download
Morcheeba are set to release four remixes of their single Even Though on July 26th.
The original track is taken from the new album 'Blood Like Lemonade' and the mixes come courtesy of two Belgian production duos: Mustang and Surfing Leons.
One of the Surfing Leons mixes (the Surfing Leons Afternoon Remix to be exact) is available to download for FREE !

'Trip-hop's enjoying a bit of a renaissance, isn't it? Guess you can chalk that up to dubstep's ever-growing presence. Or maybe people are just realizing the theme song to House is Massive Attack's "Teardrop". Whatever the case, Morcheeba's reunion with longtime vocalist Skye Edwards couldn't come at a better time. Their new album together, Blood Like Lemonade, is out now and this entrenched-in-bassmud remix from Belgium's Surfing Leons is your free primer. 1995, meet 2010.'

NEW ALBUM OUT NOW & SOUTH AFRICAN TOUR DATE ANNOUNCED!!!
Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Dwele is prepping for the release of his long awaited 4th studio album, W.ants. W.orld. W.omen. (W.W.W.). This album is the follow up to Dwele's last album, Sketches of a Man which included "I'm Cheatin'."

The first single from W.ants. W.orld. W.omen. (W.W.W.) the soulful tune, "What's Not to Love," has already received chart success on nationwide radio in South Africa. To listen to "What's Not To Love," click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rg6X2A_yLkc.

"W.W.W. is separated into three sections, representing different aspects of myself as an artist," explains Dwele. The album is a collection of songs combining elements of both R&B and hip hop to express his personal and political views as filtered through the turbulent economy and political climate of today. Dwele continues, "With W.W.W., I wanted to do as Marvin Gaye and Donny Hathaway did. When you hear their music now, you feel exactly what the climate was at the time, and that's the job of musicians, to talk about the world's situation."

Dwele was featured on the chorus of Kanye West's smash hit, "Flashing Lights." Recently, he also became the face and voice behind the launch of McDonald's new product line, McCafe.

Now that the World Cup is over, it's time for Dwele to rock the stage here in South Africa. The monumental event will be taking place at Bassline in Johannesburg on the 3rd of September 2010. Please find attached the flier for the show.
